After three impressive wins to kick off the tournament against Powerade, Talksport and Gorkana, PHA stumbled to defeats against the Guardian and Men’s Fitness but nevertheless progressed to the semi-finals.

The draw saw PHA meet Men’s Fitness again and after an entertaining 4-4 draw AET, PHA were unlucky to lose on penalties. Mens Fitness went on to beat the Guardian 2-1 in the final and be crowned the inaugural Movember Media Cup winners.

Team Goals also invited professional football freestyler Dan Cutting to the event and witnessed him break his own world record for keeping a football up on his lips consecutively in one minute, setting a new world record of 158 times (awaiting official confirmation).

A fantastic way to round off a month’s worth of fundraising activities up and down the country for Goals, which in total helped raise over £8,000 for the Movember campaign.

The game sees Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney’s first character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, reunited on a quest to save Wasteland, an alternate world filled with lost Disney characters and theme park attractions. Echoing this theme and the inspiration for the game, PHA set up a pop-up gallery in Westfield Stratford, displaying artwork from the Walt Disney Archives in LA.

From early animation drawings through to exclusive artwork from Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the exhibition brought together the fascinating Disney history which inspired Wasteland. Rare sketches from early Oswald animations and Mickey Mouse’s first ever cartoon Steamboat Willie were on display, as well as the first pencil concept sketch of the original Disneyland park in California, which was created in a single weekend and taken to New York to secure funding for the park.

As well as the artwork, the three day event offered shoppers the chance to play the new game, make their own drawings on a state of the art digital graffiti wall and even have a custom sketch drawn by Disney animator Fabrizio Petrossi.

The launch was a huge success and resulted in a variety of coverage, including a four page spread in The Sunday Times Magazine following their trip to the Archives in LA and features in the Evening Standard, Metro, Mail Online and Telegraph Online to name but a few.

PHA Media has teamed up with the Taylor Bennett Foundation – a charity that promotes ethnic diversity in the communications industry – to provide a series of seminars into the hussle and bussle of agency life at our Soho offices.

We put on a special workshop for a group of eager trainees from the foundation which gave them an idea of what is required to cut it at a top PR company.

PHA’s head of production David Brookes gave them a crash course in the role of video production in a PR campaign and a fun-filled brainstorm which threw up some interesting and creative ideas for some our clients.

PHA’s associate director, Stuart Skinner, who helped to organise the partnership with the Taylor Bennett Foundation, enthused: “The students were a breath of fresh air their enthusiasm and knowledge was very impressive.

“I hope this is the start of a long and successful partnership between PHA and the Taylor Bennett Foundation and we expect to offer four-week internships to some of the students in the near future.”

Sarah Stimson, Taylor Bennett course director, added: “We are delighted that PHA Media has joined the growing list of PR agencies to host a field trip for our interns. It is only with continued support from the industry that the foundation can continue to offer such exciting opportunities to graduates.”
