PHA Media worked for Proactive Sports Management during a high profile court case in which the Rooneys’ and their agent were sued by their former management company, for unpaid fees.
The disputed fees were in the form of commission earned from commercial deals struck for the Rooneys by agent Paul Stretford, while he was working for Proactive Sport Management.
The protracted case lasted several months, during which time PHA attended sessions at Manchester Mercantile Court where we briefed journalists and made sure our client was fairly represented in press coverage. We became the first port of call for all media inquiries and were able to exert considerable influence over the tone of reporting, by steering journalists and supplying crucial facts and quotes in time for copy deadlines.
The widespread coverage carried extended quotes from Ian Mill QC, who was representing Proactive Sports Management, and was sympathetic to our client’s claim.
The Judge ruled that Proactive Sports Management should be repaid a very significant sum.
