Rich Martell, Floxx – Entrepreneurs and Business PR Case Study
Rich Martell is the UK’s answer to Mark Zuckerberg, running one of the UK’s most successful start-up companies in the infamous ‘Silicon Roundabout’ region of London. One of the most exciting and dynamic internet entrepreneurs in the UK, Rich hit the headlines in 2010, when during his university days he set up the website FitFinder. Designed to make sharing the whereabouts of attractive students easier, the site was a sensation that went viral from day one. The controversial site was closed by his university UCL for ‘bringing the college into disrepute’ yet Martell had already seen the potential for the idea.
In early 2011, with investment from Doug Richard formerly of Dragons’ Den, Floxx was launched and the location based social network has gone from strength to strength with the launch of a number of new apps that allow users to share the real world based purely on location and time.
