On June 8th, renowned media expert Phil Hall and respected professionals from the public and private sector came together at the Charlotte Street Hotel to discuss how to work with and manage the media.
Phil spoke about the PR landscape and the practical approaches to tackling reputation management, with special guests Geoff Sutton, Tarique Ghaffur and Scott Quinnell sharing experiences from their respected fields. They covered the importance of social media, what stakeholders can learn from how the police plan for a crisis and working with the media as both a sports star and a businessman.
On May 20th, PHA Media and Phil Hall hosted a breakfast event at the Dean Street Townhouse aimed at the health sector. Phil discussed how health professionals can work towards building a brand and their own reputation through PR and social media whilst treating and helping their clients on a day-to-day basis.
On April 21st Phil Hall spoke at a breakfast event jointly hosted by Schillings, Deloitte and Coutts. Phil led the discussion on ‘divorce in the media’ and shared his views on the tabloid’s obsession with celebrity divorce, the tactics the press use when covering such a story and what behaviour is out of bounds both legally and under the PCC code of practice. Phil gave a presentation, which was followed by a round-table debate to explore the issues.
Phil was delighted to be asked to be a panelist at the prestigious annual BBC News and Sport Festival on January 14th, 2009. The event takes place each year and looks at issues of the day affecting news broadcasts. This year Phil was the only representative form the PR world and joined the panel in the capacity of crisis management expert. He joined a panel including Richard Sambrook, Director of the BBC’s Global News, Ed Williams, BBC Director of Communications and Dorothy Burne, Head of News and Current Affairs at Channel 4.
The panel took part in a vibrant debate on issues such as the coverage of the Queensgate editing scandal and the handling of the Jonathon Ross/Russell Brand saga as well as the general issue of how the BBC and other media reports on itself.
PHA Media took part in the prestigious FT Sport Industry Summit in London on November 4th, 2008. As an industry expert on crisis management, Phil Hall was invited to sit on a panel with former Press Secretary to Tony Blair Alistair Campbell, Lord Condon who was former Commissioner for Police in London and now Deputy Chairmen for G4S and Paul Charles, Director of Communications for Virgin Atlantic, to debate under the charge of BBC journalist John Inverdale the subject of preparing for crisis management. The 300 delegates enjoyed a lively debate on the role of the media in a crisis and how to take charge of the situation.
