I originally intended this post to be about my top three Superbowl adverts. But picking my favourite proved to be much harder than I first thought.
However, whilst watching the adverts there was a couple that stood out in particular. Not necessarily because they were better, more creative or emotive than the others. But because the brand they advertise has the ability to surpass themselves year after year.
The Superbowl was taken over with motoring adverts, so standing out is a tough job alone. And after last year’s Volkswagen advert ‘The Force’ received over 50 millions hits on YouTube, they had a lot to live up to.
This year they have kept in keeping with the Star Wars theme, and instead of trying to beat last years advert, they make reference to it in this years.
Now, I may be biased because I love Bolt the dog (and if you watch the making of the advert you will understand why). But I think the adverts are outstanding, and bring a touch of humour to a motorist ad – which is something we seldom see.
What do you think? Do you love the Volkswagen adverts or was there another Superbowl advert that really caught your eye?
P.S. Others I’d recommend watching are:
- Budweiser Light – Here we go
- Vodaphone – I believe in a thing called love
- M&M’s – Just my shell (hilarious!)
- H&M – David Beckham (phwoar!)
